Seeking Solace Amongst Old Trees and Timeless Temples
During the Japanese colonial era, this region was known as “Sanfenpu Village,” which was adjacent to the old village. However, as Taiwan transitioned into the post-war period, the government truncated all three-word place names to two words, establishing the historic Songzhu Temple in this region, ultimately transforming “Sanfenpu” into “Songzhu.”
As you embark on a journey through the old Jiushe Park en route to Songzhu Temple, you’ll immerse yourself in the ever-evolving tapestry of faith and culture. Encompassed by centuries-old trees and ancient temples, you’ll experience the serenity and inspiration of the flowing waters of Songzhu.

Zen Essence
- Work Title: Zen Essence
-
Creative Concept:
"Zen Essence" aims to capture an elegant, pure, and transcendent state of mind. Utilizing a preset piano sound as the foundation, the piece creates an instrument reminiscent of a singing bowl. Bamboo percussion instruments form the rhythmic backbone of the music, evoking the crisp sound of a gentle breeze rustling through a bamboo grove. The pentatonic melodies centered around the piano sketch a Zen-like ambiance, designed to evoke a serene and leisurely mood in listeners. This piece is inspired by the flowing waters and a pristine white statue of Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy) standing tall in the midst of a bamboo forest at a temple, a place where miracles are said to occur frequently.
